Manual Sample Stations – Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS)

Overview:

Chevron Australia operates one of the world’s largest LNG projects. Located alongside the LNG project is a Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) System designed to capture carbon emissions. The CCS prevents millions of tonnes of greenhouse gases being vented into the atmosphere and injects the CO2 into underground rock formations for permanent storage.

Approach:

To maintain the rigorous quality expectations and tight process parameters, the CCS System requires regular routine monitoring of the process fluids. To achieve this, a specialised manual sampling system is required to facilitate regular, safe and low-risk sampling activities on site.

Outcome:

Pressure Dynamics has designed, engineered and supplied 24 manual sampling stations for the CCS System. These utilised specialist materials, including 6% Molybdenum steel (UNS S31254), to mitigate the harsh marine environment and corrosive fluids at high temperatures, as well as sourcing and supplying IECEx conforming motors, pumps, and control equipment. The sampling systems are designed to cool the process sample on-site, ensuring the safety of operations technicians. The CCS System Sampling Stations have been specially engineered and manufactured to withstand harsh outdoor environments, such as extreme heat and cyclone-force winds.
