CB&I Asset Solutions engaged Pressure Dynamics on behalf of GEPetrol, Technical Operator of Block B, to inspect and recertify its offshore crane fleet across the Serpentina FPSO and Jade Platform in Equatorial Guinea. The primary scope annual API RP 2D inspections across five cranes, and, for two cranes aboard the Serpentina FPSO, the completion of five-yearly ABS class recertification. Five cranes across two facilities were delivered within two mobilisations to a remote and logistically demanding location.
EQUATORIAL GUINEA AFRICA OFFSHORE API RP 2D CRANE INSPECTIONS & ABS 5-YEARLY RE-CERTIFICATION

Approach:
Pressure Dynamics mobilised a Lead Crane Technician to complete API RP 2D annual inspections across all five cranes within GEPetrol’s Offshore Block B assets. On the Serpentina FPSO, the Bailey 3-tonne travel crane and Krupp main crane underwent full five-yearly ABS class recertification, encompassing comprehensive structural and mechanical inspections and proof load testing. On the Jade Platform, annual inspections were completed on three AmClyde pedestal cranes, along with MIPEG load monitoring system calibration and detailed wire rope assessments. Safety-critical defects identified during the campaign were assessed, documented and controlled to support continued safe lifting operations. Full close-out documentation and inspection certification were issued for all five cranes.
Outcome:
Both cranes aboard the Serpentina FPSO successfully completed proof load testing and were returned to certified ABS class. The campaign established a clear condition baseline across the full fleet and provided GEPetrol with prioritised, risk-ranked recommendations for corrective maintenance and longer-term asset management. GEPetrol’s lifting assets were returned with current, compliant certification and a defined programme for ongoing maintenance and reliability.
