This year Pressure Dynamics participated in Blue Shirt Wednesday today to raise awareness for mental health in men. This is in supporting the awareness campaign for Mental Health Week, running from October 8 – 15 October, 2016.
This year, Western Australian Association of Mental Health (WAAMH) is using the Act-Belong-Commit message, courtesy of Mentally Healthy WA, with a focus on suicide prevention ‘Together we can save lives’ as the official theme for Mental Health Week 2016. Suicide is a complex issue with multiple interrelated factors. There are, however, strong relationships between suicide, traumatic life events and mental illness. Mental health promotion programs such as Act-Belong-Commit contribute to suicide prevention by keeping people mentally healthy, building individual and community resilience and by preventing mental illness. As part of MHW 2016, we encourage everyone to adopt the Act-Belong-Commit way for better mental health and wellbeing
- Act: Keep mentally, physically, socially and spiritually active, take a walk, read a book, play cards.
- Belong: Join a club, take a class, volunteer, stay connected, get involved in your community.
- Commit: take up a cause, help a neighbour, learn something new, take on a challenge.
